About BrushBeatByte
Made by hand, sharpened by machine. BrushBeatByte is a directory and newsletter for people who make art, music and games by hand and use AI as one tool among many.
The editorial standard
- Craft first. Tools are listed when they plug into a real practice: a DAW, a paint app, a 3D package, a game engine, a loom.
- Every showcase needs a visible human craft step and a Hand vs. AI table (stage · human did · AI did · tool). Showcases stay marked unverified until the creator confirms the breakdown.
- Every tool gets a training-data label: licensed, consented, open, or unknown. "Licensed" and "consented" are only used when the maker says so publicly, and we link that statement.
- Our own words. Blurbs are written by us from vendor facts. No copied marketing text, no copied images or logos. We link to official sites.
- Dated. Each listing shows when it was last verified. Prices change, so check the vendor.
- Money never buys editorial. Sponsored and affiliate items are always labeled. Payment cannot buy a showcase or a licensed-data badge. See disclosures.
Corrections & takedowns
Creators and vendors can request corrections or removal through the submit form. We aim to act on takedown requests within 48 hours.
